Nearly 2,900 Uzbek citizens repatriated from abroad

From January to July 2026, the Agency for Foreign Labor Migration assisted 2,888 Uzbek citizens who encountered difficulties abroad in returning home.

9.936 billion soums were allocated from the Migration Fund to cover the costs of transportation, medical support, and other necessary repatriation expenses. The largest share of those returned were 1,306 individuals in dire financial circumstances. Notably, almost half of them were women with children.

Fifteen individuals who required constant medical supervision were monitored by doctors and specialists from the Ministry of Health throughout their entire journey home.

The Agency also cited one recent case as an example. An Uzbek citizen who went to St. Petersburg to work in 2024 has lost contact with his family since March of this year. An investigation revealed that the man had developed mental health issues and was left unattended. He was flown home from St. Petersburg to Tashkent.

It was previously reported that two Uzbek citizens who had been living without documents in a Novosibirsk orphanage for eight years were given assistance in restoring their passports.
