Narbaeva Discusses Youth Policy with UN Official

**Narbaeva Talks Youth Policy with UN Official**
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva held a meeting with United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and Head of the UN Youth Office Felipe Paullier on the sidelines of the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, according to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. The sides discussed expanding cooperation in youth policy, young people’s participation in decision-making, and cooperation between parliament and the UN.
Those present highlighted the importance of joint efforts to advance the global youth agenda and to ensure the meaningful involvement of young people in decision-making processes. It was stressed that Uzbekistan sees young people not only as recipients of state support, but also as active participants in reforms and partners in shaping state policy.
Particular attention was given to the youth parliaments operating under the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. These platforms give young people the opportunity to become familiar with legislative processes, put forward their own initiatives, and take part in discussions of urgent national development issues.
The two sides also discussed the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to create a "World Youth Movement for Peace" based in Uzbekistan. Participants expressed interest in further promoting this initiative and in considering practical implementation mechanisms involving young parliamentarians and youth organizations from different countries.
The establishment of systematic cooperation between the UN Youth Office and youth parliaments, as well as the expansion of Uzbek youth participation in UN programs and international platforms, were identified as promising areas of interaction. In addition, the parties outlined possibilities for joint initiatives on the climate agenda, digital transformation, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
At the end of the meeting, Narbaeva wished success to the upcoming General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled for October 2026 in Tanzania.
