A mother and daughter are set to open a flower vending machine in Telford next month.
Kim Sagar and her daughter Sophie, from the town, founded SK Living Spaces, which said the machine will have six refrigerated compartments.
Bouquets in the machine, located by the entrance to a town centre McDonald’s, will have prices displayed and will be restocked regularly to ensure “the quality is really good”, the mother said.
The launch is due to take place on 3 October, with Sagar saying they were “already in discussions with two other locations” and had “big plans for the future”.
The new machine will remain in the same spot.
When asked whether they had to design it themselves, the mother said there were already a couple of machines in Scotland and a few in London, but none in between.
“They are not as expensive as you would think... we’ve had it all bespoke printed as well,” she said.
Flowers in the machine will be replenished regularly, the mother said.
Sagar said all the compartments would be numbered for convenience.
She said: “As much as it’s about convenience, it’s about making it easy for people to shop at any time that they want to shop, but also to have that real confidence that they are going to get a quality bouquet.”
The family said it would “do other gifting things in there as well, so it’s kind of watch this space”.
The mother added that she had a “wonderful daughter and we have a really fantastic relationship”.
“We’ve always kind of said it would be really good to do a venture together.
“We’ve talked a lot, we haven’t really done anything, but... it was always going to be something creative because that’s just the way we are.
“For years, it’s always been about either designing and icing a fabulous cake or creating a wonderful bouquet for friends and family to enjoy, so it had to go down that route.”
“We finally decided to bite the bullet and do this,” she added.
“If you suddenly remember that you’ve got an anniversary or a birthday or simply just because you want to give somebody flowers, it doesn’t matter what time of day or night it is.”
Asked if she was confident the machine would be a success, Sagar replied: “100%”.
