Monitors air, land, and sea: The first GlobalEye for Sweden has been presented
The new aircraft has not yet been delivered to the customer. It must first undergo checks and tests, and then make its maiden flight. After that, it is planned to be delivered to Sweden.
GlobalEye combines capabilities for long-range radar surveillance, target identification, and coordination of military operations. The system gathers information on the situation in the air, on land, and at sea, helping the command to see the overall picture.
The aircraft is designed to detect and monitor activity over large areas. The data obtained from it will be used to respond to threats in a timely manner, plan operations, and coordinate force movements.
Through these aircraft, Sweden aims to strengthen its surveillance capabilities in its national airspace and adjacent sea routes.
According to AviTrader, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration signed the initial contract with Saab in 2022. It provided for the delivery of two GlobalEye aircraft and the option to order additional aircraft later.
In 2024, a third aircraft was also ordered. This brought the number of GlobalEyes to be prepared for Sweden to three.
