Man suspected of sexually abusing 10-year-old in Jizzakh kills himself
A man suspected of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child in the city of Jizzakh died by suicide after procedural measures were carried out, the National Agency for Social Protection said in a statement.
According to preliminary information cited by the agency, a close relative of the child reported the incident to law enforcement. An inquiry and investigation are now underway.
"At present, all details of the case, including the period, nature and other circumstances of the acts committed against the minor, are being examined by law enforcement agencies," the statement said.
On Oct. 5, the "Inson" social services center in Jizzakh opened a case for the child, who received an initial assessment and psychological support. The child is currently in a safe place, and steps are being taken to protect the child's rights and legitimate interests, ensure safety and stabilize their mental state, the agency said.
A forensic examination has been ordered, and further measures will be determined based on its results, the agency said.
Earlier, the Senate approved life imprisonment as punishment for sexual crimes against children under 14.
