A man in his 40s has been formally charged in connection with a €1.6 million (£1.4 million) drug seizure, which resulted from a collaborative police effort spanning both sides of the border.
He is one of two individuals taken into custody following an inquiry that led to the discovery of 119 kilograms (262 pounds) of cannabis in Dundalk, County Louth, after a vehicle was intercepted on Wednesday.
Subsequent searches conducted in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, revealed an additional 45 kilograms of cannabis, half a kilogram of suspected cocaine, 22 replica firearms, and £25,000 in currency.
The man who has been charged is scheduled to appear at Cavan District Court on Friday afternoon.
Authorities, including both the police and gardaí (Irish police), have indicated that investigations are continuing.
