Lee Hsien Loong addressed the Senate of the Oliy Majlis

Senior Minister of the Republic of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong addressed the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, where he highlighted current global challenges, Asian development trends, and prospects for cooperation between the two countries.

Before Lee Hsien Loong's address, the Speaker of the Senate emphasized that long-term strategic reforms, the rule of law, effective governance, and a focus on human capital have played a key role in Singapore's rapid development.

The event also highlighted the development of Uzbek-Singaporean relations. Diplomatic ties between the countries were established nearly 30 years ago, and in recent years, high-level political dialogue has helped elevate bilateral relations to a new level.

Special attention was paid to interparliamentary cooperation. This interaction is developing through mutual visits of parliamentary delegations, contacts between committees, and interparliamentary friendship groups.

In his speech, Lee Hsien Loong shared his assessment of ongoing global processes, current development trends in the Asian region, and global challenges, and touched on joint responses to them.

The Singaporean senior minister also discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Singaporean cooperation. In particular, he emphasized the importance of exchanging experience in public administration, education, human capital development, innovation, and the economy.

The event participants noted the need to further expand interparliamentary ties. Promising areas included exchanging experience in lawmaking, digitalizing parliamentary activities, and developing cooperation in public policy, education, youth policy, and training modern personnel.

The Oliy Majlis has already approved a new composition for the group on cooperation with the Singapore Parliament. Its next meeting is scheduled to consider the proposals outlined in Lee Hsien Loong's speech.

Next year, Uzbekistan and Singapore will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. According to the meeting participants, the anniversary will be an opportunity not only to summarize the results of cooperation but also to identify new directions for the development of bilateral relations.

At the conclusion of the visit, Lee Hsien Loong signed the Senate's Guests of Distinction Book.
