Lamin Yamal breaks 91-year record

Lamin Yamal breaks 91-year-old record

Barcelona's Lamin Yamal became the youngest player to score 50 or more goals for the Catalan club. This historic result was recorded in the match against Rayo Vallecano (5:2) in the 3rd round of the Spanish La Liga.

Yamal, who scored a double in this match, broke the 91-year-old record in the club's history. Before that, the youngest player to score 50 goals for Barcelona was Josep Escola, who achieved this result in 1935 at the age of 20 years and 356 days.

Until then, only Lionel Messi had come close to Escola's record. The Argentine striker scored his 50th goal for the club at the age of 21 years and 120 days. Lamin Yamal, who set a new record, is currently only 19 years and 49 days old.

Lamin Yamal is a graduate of the Barcelona academy and has been playing for the first team since 2023. The player has played in a total of 154 matches for the club so far, scoring 51 goals and providing 52 assists.

For information, Barcelona is leading the table with 9 points after the first three matches in the Spanish championship. The Catalans will play their next match against Valencia on September 6.
