Kyrgyzstan plans to open a consulate general in Andijan

Kyrgyzstan intends to establish a Consulate General in Andijan to deepen relations with Uzbekistan, Dunyo News Agency reported, citing a statement by Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev.

The head of Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Ministry noted that the new consulate is intended to create additional opportunities for expanding trade, tourism, logistics, and cultural ties between the two countries.

Kulubayev emphasized that the initiative to open a diplomatic mission is consistent with the overall development of Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations. He noted that interaction between the two countries has reached a qualitatively new level in recent years following the signing of the Treaty on Alliance Relations during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan.

However, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister did not specify a specific date for the opening of the Consulate General in Andijan.

The expansion of the consular presence is accompanied by the strengthening of Kyrgyzstan's diplomatic infrastructure in Uzbekistan. In May 2024, the grand opening of the new building of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent.
