Deadline confirms that Johnny Depp may indeed star in the new film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. This information was revealed to reporters at the D23 event by producer Jerry Bruckheimer. According to him, negotiations are currently underway with the actor, while work is also underway on the film's script. The producer expressed hope that the project will come to fruition.

However, the new film will not be just another story about Captain Jack Chittak. According to sources, the main focus in the new part will be on another character played by Margot Robbie. Jack Chittak will appear as a secondary character.

Earlier, there were reports that the spin-off dedicated to the character of Margot Robbie was canceled. Orlando Bloom may also participate in the new film. The actor supported the return of the main characters of the original trilogy.

The last film in the franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales, was the lowest-grossing film in the franchise, earning $795.9 million worldwide. However, the five films in the franchise have collectively grossed more than $4.5 billion for Disney.
