Javohir Sindorov to participate in $1 million international competition

Javohir Sindorov to participate in $1 million international chess tournament.

Uzbek grandmaster Javohir Sindorov will participate in the fourth season of the Global Chess League in Bangalore, India. This time, Sindorov will play for the first time in the status of an "Icon", that is, as the leading chess player of the FYERS American Gambits team.

The tournament will also be attended by leading representatives of world chess. In particular, such strong grandmasters as multiple World Champion Magnus Carlsen, Indian Viswanathan Anand and Alireza Firuzja are among the tournament participants.

This tournament will be part of Sindorov's preparation for the upcoming important competitions. The Uzbek chess player will have the opportunity to gain experience against strong international opponents before the Chess Olympiad and the World Championship in Samarkand.

For your information, the total prize fund of the Global Chess League in 2026 will be $1 million. Half of it — $500,000 — will be distributed based on the team’s final placing: the champion will receive $250,000, the silver medalist will receive $125,000, the third-place team will receive $75,000, and the fourth-place team will receive $50,000.

Another $450,000 will be distributed among all teams in proportion to the number of game points they have accumulated throughout the tournament. An additional $50,000 will be awarded to the league winner. Thus, the prize money depends not only on the final placing, but also on the results of each individual game. The tournament will be held from September 3 to September 13.
