It has been decided that the results of privatization in Uzbekistan will not be reviewed

The law signed on August 17th introduced exactly the same addition to three laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan: initiating actions on issues of reconsideration, invalidation, and cancellation of privatization results is considered a violation of the inviolability of private property, and such cases will not be accepted for consideration.

Initiatives to review privatization results in Uzbekistan have been banned.

In accordance with the law signed by the President on August 17, the following additions were made to a number of laws:

"Initiatives by state bodies, including supervisory, law enforcement bodies and courts, on issues of reviewing, invalidating and canceling the results of privatization, including the assessment of the value of objects and the results of the expert examination of the reliability of the assessment report, are considered a violation of the inviolability of private property and such cases are not accepted for consideration."

This provision was also included in the laws "On the Privatization of State Property", "On Guarantees of Freedom of Entrepreneurship", and "On the Protection of Private Property and Guarantees of the Rights of Owners".

The law will enter into force three months after its official publication, that is, on July 18, 2026.

For your information, a similar norm was established in Presidential Decree No. 4633 of January 17, 2017. According to this decree, it is prohibited for state bodies, including supervisory, law enforcement agencies and courts, to raise issues of review and cancellation of privatization results, including the results of the valuation of objects.
