Iran's leader makes changes to military commanders
Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has appointed six new commanders to the country's Armed Forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the Basij paramilitary force.
The Iranian leadership has made changes to the composition of military commanders.
In particular, General Ali Abdullahi was appointed as the new chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.
Major General Ahmad Vahidi was appointed as the new commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Fox News, citing military experts, reported that these changes indicate that Tehran is preparing not for a resolution of the conflict with Washington, but for a "long-term confrontation."
"The statements about the new appointments were published, including in English," said Omar Mohammad, a Middle East expert. "Tehran is forming a new command structure on the ground before signing anything (agreements on ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz)."
