Iran intends to extend the war against the US for 3 years

Advisor to the commander-in-chief of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, said that Iran intends to continue the war with the US until the end of Donald Trump's presidency in order to ensure its security.

Naqdi said: "We must achieve restraint so that the enemy never dares to attack us and so that we can live safely. One of the ways to achieve this is to extend the war until the next presidential term. Let the losses be so great that anyone who wants to attack Iran knows that they will have to pay for it."

He also answered the question of whether Iran's attacks on merchant ships are a violation of maritime law: "In a war situation, we can control any transport corridor that poses a threat. This is international law. This law applies wherever there is a war in the world."

Trump's second term begins in January 2025 and will end on January 20, 2029, when the next president of the United States is sworn in. This will be Trump's last term, as the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution limits a person to two terms. Trump has already won the 2016 and 2024 elections.

The US launched a joint military operation against Iran with Israel on February 28. In response, Tehran launched a series of missile and drone strikes on Israeli and US bases and oil infrastructure in the Middle East. In addition, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz.

On June 18, the US and Iran signed an interim memorandum of understanding that provided for a cessation of hostilities and the start of a new round of negotiations. But a few days later, the US leadership accused Iran of violating the ceasefire. Tehran has made similar accusations in return. In August, Trump said he had refrained from carrying out new strikes on Iran because of the agreement.
