Interconnected outages observed in Central Asia's energy system
Power outages have occurred in Surkhandarya and some other regions of Uzbekistan, as well as in the cities of Almaty, Bishkek, and Dushanbe in neighboring countries.
Interconnected outages have occurred in the Central Asian energy system. As a result of an accident that affected the region's unified energy system, electricity supply was cut off in Surkhandarya and some other regions of Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reported this without disclosing in which country the accident occurred. "Currently, power supply is being gradually restored by power workers. Additional information will be provided," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan, a multi-stage automatic system for preventing accidents has been activated in the unified energy system.
According to Kaktus.media, there are reports of mass power outages in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek, the largest city of Kazakhstan Almaty, and the capital of Tajikistan Dushanbe.
According to Tengrinews, the emergency automation system in the power transmission networks owned by KEGOC turned off with a capacity of 300 MW, as a result of which power supply was cut off in Almaty city and 10 districts of Almaty region. It is also reported that the metro service in the city has stopped.
