Inflation rises to 0.7% in September, makes up 4.2% since beginning of 2026
In September, prices in Uzbekistan rose 0.7%, up from 0.2% in August. Since the beginning of the year, inflation slowed to 4.2% from 5.1% a year earlier. Over the past year, price for propane for cars grew by 49%, tomatoes by 55%, petrol by 20% and meat by 18%.

Inflation in Uzbekistan reached 0.7% in September, bringing the total since the beginning of 2026 to 4.2%, the National Statistics Committee said.
This was the highest monthly figure since the start of the year, equal to January’s rate.
Compared with August, inflation rose by 0.5 percentage points from 0.2%, and compared with 0.6% in September last year, it increased by 0.1 percentage points.
From the beginning of the year, inflation stood at 4.2% (5.1% in January-September 2025), while annual inflation eased to 6.4% from 8% in September last year (6.2% year-on-year in August).
Excluding fruit and vegetables, inflation also came to 0.7% (0.5% in September 2025), reaching 5.6% over nine months (6.7%) and 6.8% year-on-year (8.9%).
Food prices climbed 1% over the month (0.9% in September 2025), 2.9% since the beginning of the year (2.1%), and 6.3% compared with September last year (6.1%).
Non-food prices rose 0.3% in September (0.3%), 4.6% since the beginning of the year (4%), and 5.8% year-on-year (6.1%).
Service prices increased by 0.9% during the month (0.3%), were 5.6% higher since the beginning of the year (12.4%), and 7% higher year-on-year (14.9%).
Among major food products, eggs recorded the biggest monthly price rise, up 5.3% (11.4% year-on-year). Beef became 1.1% more expensive (+17.9%), lamb rose 1.3% (+19.8%), and chicken increased 1.2% (+1.2%).
Seasonal factors continued to push down fruit and vegetable prices. Citrus fruits became 12% cheaper (-2.7% year-on-year), grapes dropped 5.7% (-10%), apples fell 2.4% (+7.8%), and bananas declined 1.7% (-3.5%).
Tomatoes rose 14.2% in price (+54.9%), cucumbers 13.5% (+14.4%), carrots 12.4% (+2%), eggplants 4.7% (-30.2%), bell peppers 4.9% (+4.3%), and onions 2.6% (-3.4%).
Gasoline prices increased 1.2% during the month (+20.1% year-on-year). Propane became 4.2% more expensive (+48.9%), while methane prices did not change (+10.1%).
Long-distance train tickets became 1.6% cheaper (+11.6% year-on-year), while airfares fell by an average of 0.9% (-6.7%). This was linked both to the strengthening of the Uzbek soum against the euro and Swiss franc and to tariff changes by individual carriers.
Fees at state kindergartens rose by an average of 6.8% in September after an increase in the base calculation unit. Private kindergarten services became 1.7% more expensive.
Private schools increased their fees by an average of 6% in September.
State university tuition fees rose by an average of 6.3%.
