Inflation in Uzbekistan slowed to 6.4 percent
According to the results of September, annual inflation in Uzbekistan slowed to 6.4 percent. The Central Bank aims to reduce this figure to 5 percent by the end of 2027.
This was announced at a briefing by Zarina Nurberdiyeva, Head of the Department for Public Relations and Communication Policy of the Central Bank.
According to her, core inflation in September was formed around 5.5 percent. Inflation expectations of the population and business entities also continue to decline.
Nevertheless, the fact that the prices of certain goods and services are increasing at an annual rate higher than 5 percent indicates that price pressure persists in the economy.
According to Central Bank data, the increase in population incomes and money transfers, investment activity, budget expenditures, and the growth of non-gold exports are supporting domestic demand.
However, high prices for food, energy, and raw materials in world markets, as well as the process of liberalizing regulated prices, may exert pressure on inflation.
The Central Bank stated that it will continue a tight monetary policy to bring inflation down to the 5 percent target indicator by the end of 2027.
