Indian Prime Minister touches on the match between Jawahir Sindorov and Gukesh

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a state visit to Uzbekistan, spoke about chess players Jawahir Sindorov and Gukesh Dommaraju.

Narendra Modi said: “Last year in Goa, 20-year-old Uzbek grandmaster Sindorov won the World Cup. Now in November, his opponent will be 20-year-old Indian athlete Gukesh - we are in for a big competition. When these two young athletes come face to face, naturally, the eyes of the whole world will be on this competition. I sincerely wish you good luck in the chess championship to be held in Samarkand next month.”

For your information, the matches for the World Chess Championship will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from November 25 to December 15 this year. It will feature Uzbek grandmaster Jawohir Sindorov against the reigning world chess champion, Indian Gukesh Dommaraju.

The prize pool of the tournament is $2.5 million, and the total budget is $8.5 million. According to the regulations, a total of 14 games will be played to determine the winner, and the chess players are required to score 7.5 points to win the championship. If one of the sides achieves this result before the scheduled games, the match will end early. If the main games end in a draw with a score of 7:7, the champion will be determined in a tie-break.
