Indi Navarrette from the film "Obsession" to be nominated for an "Oscar"

Focus Features studio has launched a campaign to promote the horror film "Obsession" at the upcoming Oscar awards. According to Variety, the studio intends to present Indi Navarrette as a contender for the "Best Actress" nomination for her brilliant performance in Curry Barker's film. In addition, there are plans to submit the picture in almost all categories for which it may qualify for nomination.

The studio itself is promoting Barker as a nominee in three categories simultaneously — "Best Director", "Best Original Screenplay", and "Best Film Editing". A similar situation was previously observed with Sean Baker: his film "Anora" won awards for directing, screenplay, and editing.

Navarrette is expected to become the central figure of the entire campaign. Focus Features hopes that her performance in "Obsession" will increase attention to the film and strengthen its chances in other categories as well.

"Obsession" has already shown good results at the box office — filmed with a budget of 750 thousand dollars, the movie has grossed over 505.6 million dollars worldwide.

This season, Focus Features will also promote the drama "Elsinore" starring Andrew Scott, a new adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" featuring Daisy Edgar-Jones, as well as Robert Eggers' new horror film titled "Wolfman".

They also intend to submit the film "Obsession" for the "Golden Globe" — it has not yet been decided in which category to present it.
