The creation of an international commercial court was discussed in Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, within the framework of implementing the Constitutional Law "On the Tashkent International Financial Centre," the establishment of the Tashkent International Commercial Court is being considered.

On September 4, Minister of Justice Akbar Tashkulov held a meeting with Suma Chakrabarti, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Economic Development, Effective Governance, and International Cooperation. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice.

One of the key topics of the negotiations was the creation of the Tashkent International Commercial Court. The parties discussed the formation of the relevant legal infrastructure within the framework of implementing the Constitutional Law "On the Tashkent International Financial Centre."

The meeting participants also touched upon the development of commercial dispute resolution mechanisms and the further improvement of the legal environment necessary for the operation of the international financial centre.

Special attention was paid to the development of mediation, international arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution methods in Uzbekistan.

The parties also reviewed opportunities for expanding cooperation with foreign experts and training qualified specialists in the field of English law.

During the meeting, the active development of the institution of mediation in Uzbekistan was noted. Following the results of the first half of 2026, the number of mediation agreements reached 18,411, increasing fourfold.

Within the framework of judicial proceedings during this period, 2,897 mediation agreements were concluded. According to the Ministry of Justice, these figures indicate growing trust in the institution of mediation and an increase in demand for the use of this mechanism in the country.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation on developing a modern legal infrastructure within the framework of the Tashkent International Financial Centre.

The focus of further interaction will remain on the formation of international dispute resolution mechanisms, the development of mediation and arbitration, as well as the training of specialists capable of working in the field of English law.
