In Uzbekistan, specialists in the field of Islamic finance and banking will be trained in cooperation with Indonesia

Cooperation will be established between Uzbekistan and Indonesia on training personnel in the field of Islamic finance and banking. This was announced on September 9 during a meeting held at the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan with a delegation led by the Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah Affairs, Muhammad Irfan Yusuf, and the country's Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the Committee for Religious Affairs, and the "Vaqf" Charitable Public Fund. At the beginning of the conversation, it was noted that thanks to the efforts of the leaders of the two countries, cooperative relations have risen to a high level. The guests were also congratulated on the opening of the newly built "Hadis" hotel near the Imam Bukhari complex in Samarkand.

The guests were briefed on the religious and educational reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as the activities of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the Council of Ulema, and the Fatwa Center. It was emphasized that the heritage of Ibrahim Samarkandi and other scholars, who contributed to the spread of Islamic enlightenment in Indonesia in the late 14th and early 15th centuries, connects the two peoples. It was also recalled that the first President of Indonesia, Sukarno, visited the tomb of Imam Bukhari in Samarkand.

During the meeting, issues of organizing Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages at a high level and exchanging best practices in this regard were also discussed. In addition, attention was paid to training specialists in the field of Islamic finance and banking, and strengthening relations between the "Vaqf" Charitable Public Fund in Uzbekistan and waqf organizations in Indonesia.

At the conclusion, responsible officials were designated to implement the discussed initiatives and proposals. Souvenirs were presented to the guests.

It was previously reported that the issue of establishing direct flights between Uzbekistan and Indonesia is being discussed. Chairman of the Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov met with the Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Muhammad Irfan Yusuf.

The parties discussed expanding tourist exchange, developing pilgrimage tourism, and strengthening cooperation between tour operators. In particular, the issue of establishing direct flights connecting Tashkent—Jakarta and the historical cities of Uzbekistan with Indonesia was considered.
