Special signs for geographical indications to appear in Uzbekistan
Special designations have been approved in Uzbekistan to indicate the registration of geographical indications and appellations of origin of goods.
The corresponding resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was adopted on September 5 and entered into force on September 7.
The new signs can be used by holders of certificates confirming the right to use registered geographical indications and appellations of origin of goods. They are allowed to be placed directly on the product or on its packaging. Such a sign will confirm the registration of the corresponding designation on the territory of Uzbekistan.
For geographical indications, a sign in the form of a green circle with the silhouette of the map of Uzbekistan has been approved. Its design features a red geographical marker with the designation GI, as well as inscriptions in Uzbek and English.
For appellations of origin of goods, a similar marking is provided, made in a blue color scheme and containing the designation AO.
The approved signs are intended only for geographical indications and appellations of origin associated with the territory of Uzbekistan.
The marking can be used in both color and black-and-white versions.
If necessary, its size may be changed, but the original proportions and the approved appearance of the sign must be preserved.
