In Uzbekistan, imports exceeded exports by $11.6 billion
Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover reached $57.4 billion in January–August 2026. In the eight months, exports decreased by 3.4 percent, while imports increased by 16.3 percent. As a result, the volume of imports exceeded exports by $11.6 billion.

According to data provided by the National Statistics Committee, the country's foreign trade turnover increased by $4 billion or 7.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
During the reporting period, exports amounted to $22.9 billion, while imports reached $34.5 billion. As a result, the negative balance of foreign trade — that is, the excess of imports over exports — stood at $11.6 billion.
Exports accounted for nearly 40 percent of the total foreign trade turnover, while imports made up 60 percent.
Exports of goods excluding gold have increased
Despite the decrease in total exports, growth was recorded in the export of goods excluding gold.
In January–August, this figure reached $11.5 billion. This is 28.7 percent more compared to the corresponding period of 2025.

Which countries are the largest trading partners?
During the eight months, Uzbekistan conducted trade relations with more than 200 countries around the world.
The largest shares in the foreign trade turnover belonged to the following countries:
China — 23 percent;
Russia — 16 percent;
Kazakhstan — 6.5 percent;
Turkey — 3.4 percent;
Afghanistan — 2.5 percent.
China and Russia together accounted for 39 percent of Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover. The total share of the five mentioned countries was equal to 51.4 percent.
