In Uzbekistan, banks will be prohibited from withdrawing the last remaining money from cards for debt repayment

Starting January 10, 2027, commercial banks in Uzbekistan will no longer be able to withdraw all funds from accounts without customers' orders to pay off loans and guarantee obligations. After such transactions, an amount of no less than half the minimum wage must remain in the accounts.

This requirement was established by the Central Bank, which supplemented the rules for interaction with consumers of financial services. With the current minimum wage of 1.36 million sums, at least 680 thousand sums must remain in the accounts. In this case, the total balance across all of the customer's bank cards is taken into account, rather than on each card individually.

According to the published document, the restriction applies to debits under loan and guarantee agreements that the bank carries out without a separate order from the customer.
