Electrical Substation Capacity Increased in Tashkent

Ten electrical substations are being modernized in Tashkent to increase their capacity and make the power supply more stable. Following the replacement of power transformers, the total additional capacity will reach 333.2 megavolt-amperes. This will enable the system to withstand higher loads.

The work covered the "Risovaya", "SAZIIT", "Istikbol", "Yangi Tuzel", "Tuzel", "Karasu", "Charogon", "Gornaya", "Bibliotechnaya", and "Vystavochnaya" substations. More powerful transformers were installed at each of them, which made it possible to increase capacity and build an additional reserve.

The most noticeable increase was recorded at "Karasu": total capacity rose from 53.6 to 138.6 megavolt-amperes. At "Yangi Tuzel", the figure almost tripled — from 12.6 to 50 megavolt-amperes. At "Istikbol", upon completion of the work, the capacity will be 126 megavolt-amperes instead of the previous 80.

It is noted that as a result of the modernization, Tashkent's power system will be able to handle greater loads, the risk of outages will decrease, and the quality of power supply for consumers will improve.

As of the end of 2025, 11 substations with a total capacity of 1,614 megavolt-amperes and 420 kilometers of power lines were commissioned in Uzbekistan.
