In Sweden, a woman digging the ground in search of worms for fishing found 24,100 silver coins. This was reported by the local publication Raa.

The Swedish government will purchase this major treasure related to the country's history: the woman will be given 350,000 euros.

The woman found the treasure in the territory of the Södertälje municipality. The treasure contains nearly 24,100 silver coins and another 144 items dating back to the Viking Age and the early Middle Ages. The finds consist mainly of silver, but they also include gilded items and several gold objects.

According to the Swedish National Heritage Board, the treasure is well-preserved and of immense historical significance. The find could provide researchers with new information about the economy, trade relations, and social structure in Sweden's history.

The woman who found the treasure immediately reported it to the authorities and fulfilled all the requirements stipulated by law.

"The reward money must be fair. It should not harm the interests of the person who discovered the find, but it should also not be so high as to encourage illegal treasure hunting," the authorities' statement said.
