In Moscow, a citizen of Uzbekistan was sentenced to nine years for financing terrorism

In the capital of Russia, a 61-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan was found guilty of transferring money to the accounts of the terrorist organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami". The man fully admitted his guilt.

The verdict was delivered by the 2nd Western District Military Court of Moscow. According to TASS, the man, who lived in the Russian capital, transferred money through a mobile application for purposes that the investigation linked to supporting the activities of the organization.

The court established that the man shared the ideology of radical Islam and decided to provide financial support to a member of "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami".

During the court hearing, the man did not deny the charges against him and confirmed the circumstances of the money transfers.

The court sentenced him to nine years of imprisonment. He will spend the first three years in prison, and the remaining six in a strict-regime correctional colony.

The sentence has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.

Previously, a resident of the Namangan region was sentenced to 15 years for recruiting and financing terrorists.
