In Moscow, a 60-year-old woman has given birth to a healthy child

In Moscow, a 60-year-old woman with a uterine fibroid has given birth to a healthy baby boy. Doctors also removed the patient's tumor, preserving her reproductive health. This was reported by the "TASS" news agency, citing Sonya Danelyan, the deputy chief physician for obstetric and gynecological care at the "Kommunarka" multidisciplinary medical center.
The mother and baby have been discharged home in good condition. This is the patient's third child; she already has two adult sons.
"Throughout her pregnancy, the woman was under the supervision of her attending physician and a multidisciplinary team of the perinatal center — an internist, an oncologist, a vascular surgeon, and a medical psychologist. Only such a comprehensive approach could provide the necessary level of control and safety," Danelyan said.
It is noted that the third child was born with the help of IVF. The woman had frozen her own eggs back in 2010.
According to the doctor, at the 38th week of pregnancy, the woman underwent a cesarean section, followed by a myomectomy procedure.
"The operation was successful. However, our greatest achievement is the birth of a healthy, full-term baby, and that the woman's reproductive health has been fully preserved, allowing her to carry another pregnancy if she wishes," she said.
