According to the case files, the idea of the sale was initiated by the husband. Due to the family's financial difficulties, he suggested to his wife that they sell the child. At first, the woman refused, but later she agreed.
The spouses found a person willing to buy the child. That individual reported the offer to the district department of internal affairs. During an operational event, he acted as a mock buyer.
On March 19, the spouses handed over the child for the agreed 12 million soums. Following this, they were detained by law enforcement officers.
The court established that the man had also involved his underage wife in the crime. The man, F.K., was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. The woman, O.P., received 3 years and 6 months on charges of human trafficking.
