In Japan, the Mazda MX-5 was presented in a beautiful classic design
Mitsuoka has revealed the design of its new two-seater LA1 roadster. The car features long rear overhangs, chrome trim, and side sections resembling the Corvette C1 model.

The Japanese company Mitsuoka is preparing a new two-seater LA1 roadster, designed in the spirit of the classic Chevrolet Corvette C1. The modern Mazda MX-5 serves as the basis for this car.
Mitsuoka has scheduled the official premiere of the LA1 for November 26. So far, the company has only released the first images, revealing the appearance of the upcoming model.
The front of the roadster resembles the 1950s Corvette C1. The car is equipped with four headlights, an enlarged radiator grille, hood vents, and a front splitter. The rear part is also made in the style of a classic American roadster: examples of this include the lights on the sides of the body, plenty of chrome, and a vintage bumper.
In Japan, the current Mazda MX-5 ND is offered with 1.5 and 2-liter four-cylinder engines producing 132 and 184 horsepower. Both engines can work with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and a rear-wheel-drive system. The price of the new model has not yet been disclosed.
The LA1 will be Mitsuoka's second project based on the MX-5 and inspired by the Corvette. In 2018, the company presented the Rock Star roadster, whose design combined the MX-5 ND platform with elements of the American Corvette C2. The sketches of the new LA1 were also created by Takanori Aoki, the designer who worked on the Rock Star.
