In Germany, petrol became cheaper in one hour
Following the reintroduction of fuel tax relief in Germany, the average price of gasoline fell by 10–11 cents within an hour. The average price across the country dropped below 2 euros per liter, but this price reduction was not observed in all regions.

In Germany, petrol became cheaper within an hour
According to the DW publication, citing the dpa agency, the "fuel discount" — Tankrabatt — came into force in Germany on the night of October 1.
According to data from the Tankkönig portal, between 23:41 on September 30 and 00:41 on October 1, the average price of petrol across the country fell by 10–11 cents per liter. On the morning of October 1, almost the same difference compared to the prices of previous weeks was maintained.
According to the German automobile club — ADAC, at many petrol stations, the price of the cheapest type of petrol — Super-E10 — fell below 2 euros per liter.
At the same time, there are differences between regions. In Munich, Stuttgart, and Leipzig, such a price was observed at very many stations, while in Berlin it was recorded at many stations. In Hamburg, petrol could be found at a price below 2 euros at only some stations.
In Cologne, as of the morning of October 1, not a single station was recorded where the price of petrol had fallen below 2 euros. Nevertheless, in Tankkönig's observations, the average price across the country was well below 2 euros.
The tax relief of 16.7 cents per liter applies to petrol and diesel fuel released from warehouses and refineries starting from 00:00 on October 1.
However, this does not mean that retail prices are guaranteed to fall by exactly 16.7 cents. Petrol stations are not obliged to reduce the price directly by that amount.
"Whether this discount will reach consumers in full will become clear in the coming days," dpa noted.
The government adopted this measure in response to the sharp rise in petrol and diesel prices. According to the agency, September was much more expensive than other months in terms of fuel prices, and this also affected the overall inflation rate.
Critics of the government's measure say that it is difficult to calculate the actual exact amount of the discount. In their opinion, such reliefs reduce car owners' interest in saving fuel, and the benefit from the tax reduction will not fully reach consumers.
