Teacher beats student at a school in Tashkent

A teacher who beat a student at a school in Tashkent's Yunusobod district may be dismissed.

It is reported that the incident took place on September 15 at around 8:40 AM. On that day, the teacher assaulted two students. He dragged one of them inside the classroom, beat him several times, and caused bodily injuries.

"My son called. He said, 'Mom, help, they are beating my friend to death.' When I arrived, everyone was in the medical room. My child's neck was red, he was screaming and crying. His classmate was saying, 'Help, call 102,' holding his side and crying," said the mother of one of the students.

According to the report, the beating of the student was triggered by him swearing at the teacher. The teacher beating the boy was also recorded by the classroom's surveillance camera. However, this video has not been released to the public.

"In the video, I saw him brutally beating my son. He dragged him by the neck from over there to here, and my son resisted. He said, 'Let me go, teacher, let me go.' After that, the rest was not captured by the camera," said the student's father. According to him, after watching the video, he called 102 to report the incident.

Another teacher was also in the classroom on the day of the incident. However, despite seeing another teacher beating a student from another class, she left the classroom without saying anything. Commenting on the situation, the school principal said that this action by the teacher was wrong. Explaining why the students were standing at the back of the classroom in the video, the principal stated that because there was no key to the room where the lesson was supposed to be held, they were temporarily placed in a room used for divided classes, which is why there was not enough space for them.

According to Gulandom Jumaniyozova, deputy head of the Yunusobod district preschool and school education department, explanation letters were obtained based on the results of the investigation, and the teacher was issued a reprimand. Internal affairs officers are also dealing with the situation, and work is underway to terminate the contract with the teacher. At the same time, because the biology teacher approached this situation irresponsibly, explanation letters were also obtained from her, and a disciplinary warning was issued.
