“I don’t know what the future holds, we are preparing for the next match” — Michael Carrick

Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick shared his thoughts after a hard-fought comeback victory over Roma in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League. The Romans were leading 2:0 at the start of the match, but in the end, MU managed to turn the situation in their favor.

“It was a tough game. We started well, we knew it would be difficult: Roma had only lost once all season. They are a very, very good team. The goal came out of nowhere. We created a few problems for ourselves. In some situations, we acted nervously.

Towards the end of the first half, our play picked up a bit, and at halftime I told the boys that we needed to achieve a positive result. In this situation, every little push could change the game; I have seen it many times over the years. You just have to believe in yourself. The boys played brilliantly in the second half.

They didn’t give up, they didn’t back down, and in the end, they got the result they deserved. There were opportunities to score, we kept looking for our chance, kept putting pressure, and finally found a way.

I don't have a crystal ball to tell you what the future holds. We are preparing for the game on the weekend — a very important match against Aston Villa is approaching,” Carrick said.

After this match, Manchester United sits in 17th place in the Champions League standings with six points, while Roma is in 19th place with four points.
