Hundreds of students of Tashkent State Technical University were kicked out onto the street at night

Several universities in the capital, particularly the technical university, have evicted 300 students from the regions within a single day, despite them having already paid for the dormitory. This demand was made by law enforcement agencies and the university administration. According to the ministry's explanation, the student dormitory, built on the basis of a public-private partnership, does not yet have cadastral documentation, and the necessary permits for its use have not been obtained.

Hundreds of students of Tashkent State Technical University were kicked out onto the street at night

They had been living in a student dormitory built on the basis of a public-private partnership on the university territory and had paid for it. However, on October 5, the students were ordered to vacate the dormitory, and on the evening of October 6, 300 students were evicted from the building. There are also girls among those driven out onto the street.

"We came from the regions to study. We paid for the dormitory in advance. But yesterday we were told to vacate the dormitory within one day. And on October 6, all the students were kicked out. We were told that this dormitory was established on the basis of a public-private partnership, but has not yet received a license. When we asked where we should go now since we had paid for the dormitory, they said, 'we received an order from above.'

At a late hour, about 300 of us students were evicted. The university vice-rector, a prosecutor's office employee, and a district inspector came and said we had to vacate the dormitory. We asked, 'we have nowhere to go, will we stay on the street?' But no clear solution was proposed. Those who had money went to hostels, those who had acquaintances went to their acquaintances' places. There are girls among us, where will they go at night?

We have paid. If the dormitory did not have a license, why is this issue being identified only after students have been accommodated and money has been collected from them? Where will we live now, what will happen to the money we paid?

We tried to resolve this issue through the Ministry of Higher Education. But they said they could not resolve this issue, and if there is no license, the internal affairs bodies would handle it. And we do not know where to go now," the students say.

The Ministry commented as follows:

"The student dormitory built on the basis of a public-private partnership with Tashkent State Technical University in the Students' Town of Tashkent city has not yet been officially commissioned.

The cadastre documents of this facility have not yet been formalized, and the necessary relevant permits for its use have not been obtained. Therefore, it is not possible to accommodate students in the facility in an official manner.

According to the current procedure, to be accommodated in a student dormitory, a student submits an application through the Public Service Centers or the my.gov.uz portal and is accommodated in the dormitory after receiving a referral in the prescribed manner.

However, it was revealed that some students were accommodated by the entrepreneur in this facility without complying with the established procedure, without a relevant referral. Cases of accommodating students from other higher education organizations not related to Tashkent State Technical University in this facility were also observed."
