According to the prosecutor's office, one of the factors that led to this decision was the foundation's interactive project called "Tyranny Tracker", which assesses the level of adherence of countries to democratic values. This map shows Russia as a completely authoritarian state.
In addition, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office noted that the HRF disseminates information "discrediting" the Russian Armed Forces and supports other organizations that were previously considered "unacceptable" in Russia.
The Human Rights Foundation is an international non-profit organization aimed at protecting and promoting human rights around the world.
Since 2024, the foundation has been headed by Yulia Navalnaya, the wife of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny. He replaced world chess champion and opposition politician Garry Kasparov in this position.
