How to Become a Millionaire: New Rules for Rewards for Information on Corruption in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan has updated its rules for financial incentives for citizens reporting corruption. Let's look at who is eligible for these payments, what factors influence their amount, and what documents are required.
Who Now Makes Payment Decisions?
The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NSC) has amended the regulations regarding financial incentives for individuals reporting corruption violations or assisting in the fight against them. The reward amounts themselves remain unchanged and are not affected by the amendments. However, the updated document clearly defines which agency is now responsible for reviewing the submitted materials, deciding on the reward, and transferring the funds.
All these powers are transferred to the Anti-Corruption Service under the NSC, as well as its regional branches. The order comes into force on August 22.
**Amounts of Rewards for Reporting Corruption**
The amount of the reward depends directly on the severity of the offense and the extent of the damage caused. Specific amounts are as follows:
* For administrative offenses – 30 MCIs, which in 2026 is equivalent to 129,750 tenge.
* For criminal cases involving minor corruption – 40 MCIs, or 173,000 tenge.
* For moderately serious crimes – 50 MCIs, or 216,250 tenge.
* For serious crimes – 70 MCIs, equal to 302,750 tenge.
* For particularly serious offenses – 100 MCIs, equal to 432,500 tenge.
If the amount of the bribe, damages, benefits, or services provided exceeds 1,000 MCI (equivalent to 4,325,000 tenge), the compensation will be 10 percent of that amount. However, the maximum payment limit is 4,000 MCI. Converted to 2026 currency, this would be no more than 17.3 million tenge.
