Known as a child actress, heroine, villain, and comedienne, Manorama worked in Indian cinema for nearly 60 years. Many viewers remember her especially through the character of Kaushalya, who tortured Seeta in the movie "Seeta Aur Geeta".

Manorama was born on August 16, 1926, in Lahore. Her mother was Irish, and her father was a Christian-Hindu. Her real name was Erin Isaac Daniels, and she was baptized at birth. Since her parents were involved in music, Erin learned the secrets of classical dance and music from childhood. She started performing on stage very early and one day caught the attention of the famous director R.K. Shorey. Seeing the girl's dance, the director obtained permission from her father for her to act in films and gave her the name Manorama. She was 10 years old at the time. She made her debut in the film "Khazanchi". Over the years, Manorama became one of the most sought-after actresses in Punjab. Later, she starred in the films "Champa", "Badnami", and "Chunariya" alongside the famous actors of that era — Majnu, Nissar, and Vasti.

After the partition of India, the actress was forced to move to Mumbai. At a time when she was struggling to survive in the new place and losing hope, actor Chandramohan extended a helping hand to Manorama. He not only convinced her to stay in Mumbai but also introduced her to various producers and directors.

Over time, offers began to pour in for the actress one after another, but they were all supporting roles. Manorama married actor Al Nasir at a very young age, and they divorced when she was 20. Later, she tied her life with actor Rajan Haksar. They have a daughter named Rita Haksar. Rita also acted in the 1973 film "Suraj Aur Chanda", but left the world of cinema after getting married.

Manorama received consecutive offers for negative roles. "My eyes would narrow cruelly, and even my voice had a raspy tone," the actress said in one of her interviews. As a comic character, she consecutively starred in the films "Dus Lakh", "Do Phool", "Ek Phool Do Mali", "Bombay to Goa", and "Seeta Aur Geeta".

By the 70s of the last century, she was hardly offered any roles. The 80s were also very difficult for the actress. She divorced after many years of marriage and was forced to live alone. She only appeared in a small role in the film "Mulaqat" and then disappeared from sight again. In the late 80s and early 90s, the actress started working in Indian TV series. She moved to Delhi and played a role in the series "Doosra Keval" starring Shah Rukh Khan.

In the early 2000s, the actress could be seen in "Kashti" and "Kundali" produced by Balaji Telefilms. In 2005, Manorama starred in the film "Water", and critics were amazed by her performance.

According to the actress, this was her first and last choice. Due to problems during the filming, the work was resumed 5 years later, but the cast was changed. This was Manorama's last role. The actress, who starred in 150 films during her career, passed away on February 15, 2008. Unfortunately, none of the representatives of the film industry came to bid farewell to Manorama on her final journey.
