Honey, they've shrunk our Mars Bars

A Mars Bar from 1991, unearthed during a house clearance, has become a viral sensation, fueling discussions about "shrinkflation."

The chocolate bar, bearing a best-before date of 1991, was discovered in a Scunthorpe residence during a clean-out. Victoria Gordon, who operates the cleaning service, shared a photograph on social media comparing the 62.5g vintage bar with a contemporary 40g Mars Bar.

"It was nearly as big as my hand, which was kind of why I noticed it," Gordon stated.

Speaking on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, Gordon recounted finding the old Mars Bar on August 5: "We were clearing out a hoarder's house and everything we were rooting through was decades old. This Mars Bar stood out to me because as I picked it up it was nearly the whole length of my hand. I was like, 'Wow, look at the size of that!'"

Gordon, who owns Pocket Rockets, is currently undecided on the bar's future but mused that she might be in possession of a "gold mine."

"I do post some hoarding videos but I've never had anything go this viral," she commented. "It's so fascinating what people find so interesting. I almost put it in the skip [but] I might do a UK tour with it."
