Hollywood stars who faced death

**Hollywood stars who faced death**
Even world-famous celebrities are not insured against unexpected situations that threaten death. Some of them have experienced clinical death, fell into a coma or suffered serious injuries, literally surviving the brink of death.
**Donald Sutherland: Fell into a coma due to meningitis**
Famous Canadian actor Donald Sutherland almost died early in his career. In the late 1960s, while filming the film “Kelly’s Heroes” in Yugoslavia, the 33-year-old actor fell seriously ill. He was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. Sutherland’s condition worsened due to the lack of necessary antibiotics in local hospitals. As a result, the actor fell into a coma. Doctors noted that Donald’s heart stopped at that time.
To save the actor's life, the studio immediately called in a special ambulance and evacuated him to London's Charing Cross Hospital. Sutherland underwent six weeks of treatment and rehabilitation there. The disease receded, and the actor unexpectedly returned to a healthy life.
**Gary Busey: A month in a coma after a motorcycle accident**
On December 4, 1988, the 44-year-old actor had a terrible accident on his personal Harley-Davidson motorcycle in California. Busey, who was not wearing a helmet, fell headfirst into the asphalt in a traffic accident and was seriously injured. The actor was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he underwent emergency neurosurgery. The actor was clinically dead on the operating table. Doctors managed to restart his heart and successfully complete the operation. After that, in order to buy time for the brain to recover, he was put into an artificial coma, and the actor remained in this state for about four weeks.
After coming out of the coma, Busey quickly recovered physically - there was no paralysis or loss of speech. However, the brain injury was not without complications: the parts of the frontal lobes responsible for the actor's self-control system were seriously damaged. Later, those around him noted that Gary's character had completely changed - he became extremely impulsive, prone to abnormal behavior and aggression.
**Halle Berry: Fell into a coma due to diabetes**
In 1989, on the set of the sitcom "Living Dolls", the 22-year-old actress suddenly fainted and collapsed. As it turned out, Holly had a diabetic crisis, which plunged her into a deep coma. The actress spent a week in a coma before doctors stabilized her vital signs. In the hospital, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This was completely unexpected news for the actress, as she had never imagined she had such a disease.
After coming out of the coma, Halle Berry had to radically change her lifestyle. She began to strictly monitor her diet and blood sugar levels, regularly taking insulin. Later, the star said that she was very afraid of the complications of diabetes, but over time she learned to control the disease and continued her successful career.
**Sharon Stone: Aneurysm Burst**
The life of Sharon Stone, the star of the film “Basic Instinct”, could have ended even at the peak of her popularity. In September 2001, the 43-year-old actress suffered a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. Without any initial symptoms, the actress's brain artery ruptured and a hemorrhage occurred. Nine days passed before the doctors made the correct diagnosis - during this time Stone was on the verge of life and death. Due to internal bleeding, Sharon lost about 18% of her weight, could not breathe on her own, let alone speak, and even lost the ability to sit. In the end, the actress fell into a coma.
Stone was saved only by a miracle. Surgeons performed a very complex operation on the brain, which managed to stop the bleeding and restore the heartbeat. After that, a long recovery began. Sharon was in the hospital for 8 months and spent several years in rehabilitation. She learned to walk, talk and even read again.
**Jeremy Renner: Surviving a Terrible Accident**
On January 1, 2023, Marvel star Jeremy Renner was seriously injured while shoveling snow near his home in Nevada. The 51-year-old actor was helping his nephew get his car out of the snow using a special snowplow. Suddenly, the giant machine went out of control and began to slide down. Fearing that his nephew would be run over, Jeremy tried to stop the moving car and was himself trapped under the giant caterpillars.
Renner was taken to the hospital in critical condition by a special medical helicopter. It later turned out that the actor had more than 30 broken bones - his ribs, vertebrae and legs were crushed, and his lungs were severely damaged. Jeremy spent several days in intensive care, while doctors fought for his life. As a result, the actor's condition stabilized.
By the spring of that year, the actor began to move independently. In an interview three months after the accident, he noted that he had experienced terrible pain and moments of despair, but that he had never lost his will to live.
