Health Minister Eldor Adilov visited the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology to examine its operations, the ministry’s press service said.
The center’s Supervisory Council held its regular meeting with the minister present. It reviewed the work completed so far in 2026 and the plans for the next period.
According to the ministry, the center operates under the Gustave Roussy International Uzbekistan brand and an international management model in partnership with France’s Gustave Roussy institute. The partnership is being used to introduce modern management standards and a quality control system.
The center also plans to send 100 young oncologist-surgeons to French clinics for training by 2030.
The meeting addressed reimbursement of treatment costs for patients referred through the State Health Insurance Fund, digitalization of the sector, improved monitoring of cancer among women, and training for radiology specialists.
Participants also discussed introducing a unified procedure for providing medical care to patients in line with Gustave Roussy requirements.
Plans include turning the center’s laboratory into a centralized reference laboratory and establishing a National Reference Pathology Center at the hospital. Proposals to create a national commission on the use and oversight of oncology medicines were also considered.
Authorities had earlier announced plans to merge Karakalpakstan’s Medical Academy, Children’s Clinic and Oncology Center into a University Medical Cluster.
