The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on August 12 published preliminary data on the results of the night attack on Novorossiysk. According to the General Staff of Ukraine, four ships of the Russian Navy were damaged to varying degrees as a result of the attack. These are the frigates "Admiral Makarov" and "Admiral Essen", the small missile ship "Buyan-M" and the patrol ship "Vasily Bykov".
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) noted that the frigates "Admiral Makarov" and "Admiral Essen" are capable of carrying cruise missiles "Kalibr". The Ukrainian side reported that Russia has been using this type of missiles to strike Ukrainian territory.
According to the SBU, in addition to ships, a number of other objects were targeted in Novorossiysk on the night of August 12. Among them are a radar station that is part of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, the Grushovaya oil base, a mobile firing group and three mooring infrastructure.
The Ukrainian special services reported that drones, Palyanitsa jet drones, Neptune missiles and strike systems on sea platforms were used in the attack. At the same time, the NKVD statement did not provide information about the damage to the Buyan-M small missile ship mentioned by the Ukrainian General Staff.
According to Vedomosti and Reuters, the grain infrastructure in Novorossiysk was also damaged as a result of the night attack. It was reported that the Novorossiysk grain terminal and the Novorossiysk Bakery Products Plant (NNMK) have stopped working. The grain terminal belonging to the NNMK was also reportedly damaged.
The governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, reported that three people were killed and 24 were injured in the attack. He said that about 60 residential buildings were damaged in Novorossiysk. Local authorities reported that drone debris also damaged houses in the Gelendzhik, Anapa and Temryuk districts.
According to local Russian officials, "hundreds" of drones were launched towards the Krasnodar Territory.
The Grushovaya oil base, which the Ukrainian side mentioned among the facilities hit, has been attacked before. According to the ASTRA Telegram channel, the facility caught fire after the attack on June 8. Grushovaya is connected to the Sheskharis marine terminal through a pipeline system. There, oil is loaded onto tankers. This complex is one of the end points of the Transneft main oil pipelines in the Krasnodar Territory.
