Google Pay has launched in Uzbekistan, Google Cloud’s head of CEE Government Affairs and Public Policy, Marcin Krasuski, announced on October 19.

Google Pay launches in Uzbekistan
“I am very happy to announce that today Google is launching GPay – Google Pay – in Uzbekistan,” Krasuski said during a panel discussion on digital technologies in Samarkand.
The announcement came at a session held as part of C5+1 events involving the United States and Central Asian countries. The session brought together government officials and representatives of major companies.
The launch comes after changes to Uzbekistan’s personal data law removed a major barrier to the arrival of international payment platforms. In March 2026, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed amendments that relaxed the requirement to keep personal data on servers within the country, while maintaining stricter rules for biometric and genetic data and telecommunications subscriber information.
In July, the Central Bank said it was working with commercial banks and the domestic payment systems Uzcard and Humo on the technical integration of Google Pay and Apple Pay. The talks included support for cards issued under international payment networks, including Visa and Mastercard, as well as domestic payment systems.
The announcement did not say which banks or cards will support Google Pay at launch.
