Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has stated that he intends to nip in the bud anti-Russian sentiments, which, according to him, are being fueled by the radical opposition.
"Russophobia, like any manifestation of xenophobia, is not characteristic of Georgians. Historically, we are famous for our hospitality and tolerance towards foreigners," he said on the Rustavi-2 television channel.
As Kobakhidze noted, such sentiments could lead to political escalation and economic difficulties.
He also added that Tbilisi will continue to pursue a pragmatic and principled line in relations with Moscow.
In August, Kobakhidze said that past disagreements and mistakes should not become the basis for enmity between the Georgian and Russian peoples.
