Georgia: Everyone discovers it in their own way

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Every country has its own charm. When most people think of Georgia, famous national dishes, wine tasting tables, the warm Black Sea and the majestic Mount Kazbek come to mind.

All of this is, of course, part of the country's character. But visiting it at least once is enough to realize that Georgia is much more diverse than what is depicted on typical postcards and tourist routes.

A day here can begin with a walk through the old neighborhoods of Tbilisi, continue with a cup of coffee in a small courtyard, rarely visited by tourists, watch the sunset over the mountains or end with dinner in a family restaurant, where the hosts welcome guests as if they have known them for many years. It is such moments that are remembered longer than photos of famous landmarks.

Perhaps that is why many people return to Georgia again and again. This is not because they have not seen everything, but because each new trip allows them to discover the country from a different perspective - its people, small towns, nature, gastronomy and an atmosphere that cannot be repeated anywhere else.

If you have yet to get to know Georgia, perhaps now is the time to start.

You can fly directly from Tashkent to Georgia without stopping in another city. There are a total of six flights per week to the capital of the country, Tbilisi, and eight flights per week to the seaside city of Batumi. Traveling to Batumi is especially pleasant in the summer. You can tailor your trip to any destination - relax by the sea, explore historical cities or visit the mountainous regions of the country.

Therefore, before choosing a destination, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the wide range of opportunities that Georgia offers tourists today, and only then choose airline tickets.

Flight schedules, number of flights and ticket prices vary depending on the season, booking date, airline, selected tariff and other decisions of the airlines. Therefore, it is recommended to clarify the current information with the airlines before traveling.

At the same time, it is not necessary to limit your trip to just one city. The developed transport infrastructure makes it easy to combine several destinations in one trip. Modern high-speed trains run daily between Batumi, Kutaisi and Tbilisi. Traveling by car allows you to see small towns, beautiful mountain passes and little-known places of Georgia that are not included in the classic tourist routes.

One of the main advantages of traveling around Georgia is that you can organize it exactly as you want. Here, you can easily combine different formats of rest: stay for a few days in a modern hotel by the sea, then settle in a cozy apartment in the historic center of Tbilisi, and then head to a small guesthouse in the mountains or in a wine-growing region.

It is such a trip that allows you to experience the country from different angles. In the morning - breakfast with a view of the Black Sea, in the afternoon - a walk through the old neighborhoods, and in the evening - dinner in a family restaurant, which is visited more by locals than tourists. In a week, you can see completely different sides of Georgia, and this is one of the main advantages of independent travel.

The next day, you can change the usual rhythm and stay in a cozy guesthouse. It is here that the trip often takes on a more intimate tone: a leisurely breakfast with home-cooked Georgian dishes, conversations with hosts who are happy to tell stories about their country, a glass of wine in the evening and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you have come to a guesthouse, not a hotel.

The next day, you can continue your journey by modern high-speed train or car to another region. The alternation of cities, landscapes and recreation formats allows you to see Georgia in all its diversity.

If this format of travel suits you, feel free to combine different accommodation options. Modern city hotels, cozy apartments, family guesthouses or seaside resort complexes - in Georgia you can easily find an option that suits your travel style and expectations.

The cost of accommodation depends on the season, region, location category and booking date. Due to the wide range of choices, every traveler can find a convenient option for themselves, regardless of the travel format.

It is this diversity that makes traveling around Georgia especially interesting. Here, you can combine a seaside vacation with a stroll through historical towns, local gastronomy with a trip to wine regions, and high-class service with the warm hospitality of Georgia. This is one of the main reasons why you want to return to the country again and again.

Getting to know Georgia is rarely limited to just one city. Each city has its own rhythm, its own atmosphere and its own character.

Tbilisi is a city where European architecture is combined with Georgian traditions. Old wooden balconies are located next to modern buildings, ancient temples are adjacent to designer cafes and wine bars, and the narrow streets of the Old Town unexpectedly lead to spacious squares, museums and concert venues.

Tbilisi does not require a perfectly structured itinerary. On the contrary, the most vivid impressions often begin where the tourist map ends. If you turn into a neighboring narrow street, you may unexpectedly come across a quiet courtyard, a small gallery, a family restaurant or a wine bar where the owners will happily tell you about their wine and the history of the city. It is such accidental discoveries that make acquaintance with Tbilisi truly unforgettable.

Batumi is a modern resort, where a wide coastline, palm trees, bike paths and modern architecture blend with the atmosphere of an old seaside town. The city comes alive especially in summer: it becomes a venue for music festivals, open-air concerts and cultural events. And numerous restaurants, bars and cozy terraces create a unique evening atmosphere. Batumi changes its rhythm between seasons, but retains its charm thanks to its mild climate, sea air and the opportunity to relax without the usual summer crowds.

Kutaisi, on the other hand, has a completely different mood. Being one of the oldest cities in Georgia, the journey here is much more leisurely. Historic neighborhoods, cozy streets, traditional cuisine, and proximity to natural attractions make the city a great starting point for exploring the Imereti region.

It is from here that it is convenient to get to the main natural gems of the region: you can visit the Prometheus Cave, one of the largest karst caves in the Caucasus, the Sataplia Nature Reserve with its famous dinosaur footprints and panoramic viewing platform, or the Kinchha Waterfall.

Nearby is the Tskaltubo balneological resort, famous for its natural thermal springs and long-standing health traditions.

In the evening, Kutaisi appears in a different light: cozy wine bars, modern gastronomic establishments, live music, and the unhurried atmosphere of the historical center create a unique atmosphere that travelers appreciate.

A trip to Georgia does not have to be limited to the summer season. Each season reveals the country in its own way: in spring it is covered with blooming gardens, in summer it invites you to the sea and mountains, in autumn it becomes the center of winemaking traditions, and in winter it becomes one of the most interesting ski resorts in the Caucasus.

Spring is a particularly favorable time to explore the different regions of Georgia. Kakheti welcomes you with blooming vineyards and orchards, Imereti attracts with its lush nature and natural attractions, and Racha attracts with its mountain landscapes, quiet villages and an atmosphere of leisurely relaxation. Autumn in Georgia is not only the season of the famous Rtveli festival in Kakheti, but also the season of golden forests, wine routes, mountain trails and gastronomic tours in Racha.

In winter, Georgia shows itself from a completely different side. This season, modern ski resorts - Gudauri, Bakuriani, Goderdzi, Tetnuldi and Khatsvali - are especially popular. The developed infrastructure in these places is combined with stunning views of the Caucasus Mountains and a variety of trails for skiers and snowboarders of different levels.

Those who want more unusual winter experiences can pay attention to Bakhmaro. This high-mountain resort is gradually becoming popular among cat skiing enthusiasts. Here it is possible to ski on untouched snow accompanied by professional guides.

At the same time, winter holidays in Georgia attract tourists with a successful combination of modern infrastructure, a variety of resorts and a hospitable atmosphere. After a day spent on the slopes, it is especially pleasant to spend the evening in one of the local restaurants, getting acquainted with the rich gastronomic culture and cozy atmosphere of the mountainous regions.

That is why many tourists return here again and again. One time for the sea, another time for the mountains, the third time for the gastronomy, and then they start coming simply because they miss the atmosphere of this country.

No matter what format of travel you choose, the country opens up differently each time, but does not change its hospitality and diversity. It is the combination of sea and mountains, ancient history and modern urban culture that makes each trip unique.

Georgia is not a route that can be traveled from beginning to end. This is a country that you want to come back to again and again to discover new places, traditions and stories. Each region, each season and each trip allows you to see it from a different angle.

Perhaps this is the main charm of Georgia - no matter how many times you come here, there is always a feeling that there is still much more to discover.

The word საქართული (Sakartvelo) used in the title of the article is the Georgian name for the country of Georgia. Therefore, it has been left in the title in its original Georgian form.
