Gaps and Contradictions in Judicial Practice: What Uzbekistan's Legislators Propose to Change

The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis considered a bill designed to eliminate gaps and contradictions in judicial practice, as well as to strengthen guarantees for protecting the rights of citizens and entrepreneurs.

According to the press service of the lower house of parliament, the meeting of the working group to discuss the draft law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was held by the Committee on Anti-Corruption and Judicial-Legal Issues.

The document was prepared by the Supreme Court as a legislative initiative. Amendments are proposed to the Code of Civil Procedure, the laws "On State Duty" and "On Insolvency".

In particular, it is planned to establish a clear procedural order for considering cases regarding the correction of errors in civil status records.

The changes will also affect procedures related to insolvency. It is proposed to allow reducing the remuneration of a court-appointed administrator if they improperly perform their duties, to expand the possibilities for appealing certain judicial acts, as well as to clarify the procedure for pre-trial rehabilitation and the removal of court-appointed administrators from office.

"During the working group meeting, we comprehensively discussed issues regarding the practical application of the proposed norms, their legal certainty, as well as their importance in ensuring the interests of citizens and entrepreneurs," noted committee member Oybek Yuldoshev.

According to him, the adoption of the bill will make it possible to improve judicial and legal legislation, expand access to justice, and strengthen trust in the courts.
