A proposal to lower fuel duty for three months to help motorists cope with the cost of living crisis has been withdrawn.
Deputy Lucy Stephenson had brought her proposition to Jersey's States Assembly in June, calling for the tax - currently around the 65p per litre mark - added to petrol and diesel prices to be reduced by 10p a litre from 1 October to 31 December.
But Stephenson said she had now withdrawn the plan after "constructive discussions" with Treasury Minister Alan Maclean.
She said the talks had led to a "pragmatic way forward" to help islanders manage financial pressures.
When Stephenson lodged her proposition in June, external, the St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter deputy said the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which led to limited traffic moving through the Strait of Hormuz, had worsened "spiralling costs" for Jersey residents.
She said her discussions with Maclean and other colleagues in the States had left her satisfied that the issue was being taken seriously.
"I think there were very clear messages at the recent election from voters about the cost of living," Stephenson said.
"It's obvious people are struggling and we have heard that loud and clear."
The budget is due to be lodged by the government later in September before being debated by the States in December.
