From building materials to groceries: Are prices affordable at Tashkent INDEX?

A Kun.uz journalist toured the market, spoke with entrepreneurs and buyers, and checked product prices.

Usually, as a shopping list grows longer, traveling from one place to another, comparing prices, and finding the required products takes more time. Tashkent INDEX is one of the commercial complexes striving to organize this very process within a single area.

Covering an area of 72 hectares, the complex began its operations in 2022. Alongside retail outlets, its territory includes production buildings, warehouses, logistics infrastructure, food courts, and other service facilities. The initial project encompassed over 3,000 shops and 130 production areas. In short, this complex located in the Yangihayot district of Tashkent is not merely a standard shopping market, but a major hub integrating retail, manufacturing, and services.

When building or renovating a house, buying plumbing, electrical equipment, doors, and lighting fixtures might require visiting multiple locations. This, in turn, increases transport costs. At Tashkent INDEX, it is possible to select building materials and home furnishings in one area and compare their prices.

During the broadcast, a water pump was purchased for 350,000 UZS, a pipe welding tool for 100,000 UZS, and a shower with a floor drain for a total of 400,000 UZS. 300,000 UZS was spent on three porcelain tiles. Additionally, an electric water heater was bought for 1,350,000 UZS, two aluminum doors for 1,200,000 UZS, and carpets for the bedroom and hallway for a total of 3,000,000 UZS. The discounted price of a chandelier was 1,850,000 UZS. The stated prices reflect values at the time of purchase. They may vary depending on the product model, quality, and sales terms.
