On September 30, the Technovation international conference was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Tashkent on the initiative of Philip Morris International (PMI). The event was attended by representatives of state agencies of Uzbekistan, doctors and scientists from Russia, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan, as well as heads of large companies.

Technovation has previously been held in Astana, Abu Dhabi, Cape Town, Rabat, and Washington. The organizers presented it as an international platform where issues of scientific and technological innovation, regulation of new product categories, and consumer rights protection are discussed.

The conference was opened by Marco Mariotti, PMI President for South Asia, Indochina, and the CIS region. Azizbek Urunov, the Representative of the President of Uzbekistan to the World Trade Organization, and Akrom Aliyev, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, also delivered speeches at the event.

The first session was titled "Investments in Innovative Transformation." It was attended by Nodirjon Nasretdinov, CEO of Yashil Energy, Kazumasa Mukai, CEO of Coca-Cola Uzbekistan, and Omar Abdellatif, PMI Managing Director for Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The discussion was moderated by Alfiya Musina.

Following this, in the "Regulation Lab," participants learned about international regulatory practices applied in times of change through a Kahoot quiz.

Before lunch, Dr. Tomoko Iida, PMI Senior Director of Scientific Engagement, gave a presentation on the company's innovative scientific direction.

The second session was dedicated to the topic "Can Technovations reduce harm to health?". It featured speeches by Doctor of Medical Sciences Javokhir Khalmukhamedov from Uzbekistan, Boris Kasparov, Deputy Chief Physician for Outpatient Care from Russia, oncologist Professor Saida Umarzoda from Tajikistan, and dental surgeon Meyram Raganin from Kazakhstan.

The final session was held on the topic "Consumer Rights Protection in the Process of Transformation." Representatives of state agencies and organizations of Uzbekistan expressed their views. Svetlana Romanovskaya, head of the National League of Consumers of Kazakhstan, also participated among them. The discussion focused on issues of regulation, consumer information, and protection of their interests in the context of the emergence of new product categories.

At the end of the conference, Marco Mariotti delivered the closing remarks.
