Fergana plans joint venture with China to produce agricultural drones
A drone manufacturing technology park is planned for Fergana region in cooperation with a Chinese investor and Fergana State Technical University, according to a draft government resolution published for public discussion.
Fergana is planning a joint venture with China to manufacture agricultural drones.
The regional administration has put forward a proposal to create the FSTU Aeroengineering technology park on a 1-hectare plot in the industrial zone of the Eco City complex. The site would operate under the umbrella of Fergana State Technical University.
The technology park would be run by Hongsheng Texnologik Rivojlantirish, a company to be formed jointly by the university and a Chinese investor.
The facility is set to produce agricultural drones and spare parts, while also offering testing, sales, storage, maintenance and repair services. In addition, it will train drone operators, provide retraining and professional development, and carry out operator certification.
According to the draft resolution, the company could also be authorized to provide agricultural services to legal-entity agricultural producers. Its drones would be used to monitor crops, spray mineral fertilizers and apply plant-protection products.
The drones would have a maximum flight altitude of 30 meters and could only be operated by certified pilots.
The technology park is expected to include production, sales and storage facilities for agricultural drones, research and development centers, operator training facilities, testing grounds and laboratories, along with logistics and service facilities.
The draft document will remain open for public discussion until October 9.
