Extra ferry services put on ahead of strong winds
A ferry operator warns of "unavoidable" disruption with 65mph winds forecast on Friday.

**Extra ferry services arranged ahead of strong winds**
Jersey route director Chris Parker said disruption to services was "unavoidable"
A ferry operator is putting on extra services between Jersey, France and the UK before forecast strong winds arrive.
DFDS said some sailings had already been cancelled, while others were still being reviewed as it kept an eye on weather conditions.
Gusts may reach as high as 65mph (104km/h) on Friday.
Chris Parker, route director for Jersey, said disruption to services was "unavoidable" because of the forecast and added that teams were doing "everything possible to minimise the impact".
Parker said: "We are planning additional sailings and adjusting schedules wherever conditions allow.
"Safety must always come first, but we will do everything we reasonably can to keep passengers and freight moving."
The ferry company said it would contact passengers directly if their sailings were cancelled or their timetables changed.
It said there would be an extra high-speed return sailing between Jersey and St Malo on 26 October, along with an additional Stena Vinga sailing on the Portsmouth route on 25 October.
It added that both were still subject to weather and operational conditions.
DFDS said it was changing departure times where possible to make use of suitable weather windows, and that it was using the freight vessel Caesarea Trader to help keep supplies moving.
